Spies Takes First Race Of The AMA Suzuki Superbike Challenge
Ben Spies held off teammate Mat Mladin to win the first AMA Superbike Championship race of the AMA Suzuki Superbike Challenge doubleheader. The win was Spies’ fifth career Superbike victory at the Auto Club Speedway. Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammate Tommy Hayden finished third to round out the trio on the winner’s podium. In the other day’s race, Jake Zemke was the winner in the AMA Formula Xtreme class. Tomorrow’s second AMA Suzuki Superbike Championship race is scheduled for 1:00 pm, with racing in the Superstock and Supersport classes taking place after its conclusion.
